Sector Context

The Biodiversity Context of your Sector

This step focuses on the sector level picture. What are the perceived biodiversity impacts of your sector? How are other organisations tackling these challenges and what are the compliance or regulatory responsibilities?

It’s important to have full visibility on sector-level impacts and to know what other actors within your sector are doing to support biodiversity (and if it’s working!)

Guiding Questions

What are the nature and biodiversity challenges at local, regional, and global levels related to the organisation’s sectors and the geographic location of its activities and business relationships? E.g. deforestation, climate change, water stress, pollution, land use, invasive species, natural resource use
What are the organisation’s responsibilities with regards to compliance and regulation? e.g. The Global Biodiversity Framework, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, Water Framework Directive, National Biodiversity Action Plan, EU Taxonomy, ISO Standards etc
